Students who do not submit a certificate of immunization or present a valid exemption may be excluded, suspended, and/or expelled from school until such certificate of exemption is received.
If there is danger of an epidemic from any of the communicable diseases for which an immunization is required, exemptions or exceptions may not be recognized. Consistent with the recommendations of state and local departments of health, a student who is not immunized may be excluded until the epidemic is over.
The Board directs the Superintendent, the Chief Health Officer, or a designee to annually provide documentation to parents and guardians of enrolled students about standard immunization including a list of required and recommended immunizations and the age(s) at which each immunization should be given, the District's specific immunization and exemption rates for measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine for the District's enrolled student population for the previous school year compared to the vaccinated children standard, and a statement that the school is required to collect and report the information, but that the District does not control the District's specific immunization rates or establish the vaccinated children standard. This documentation shall be made available electronically on the District website and/or a hard copy may be requested from a school nurse.
All information distributed to parents and guardians by the District will inform them of their rights to seek an exemption from immunization requirements per state statute.
