The classroom use of resource persons from the community is an invaluable educational instrument. Field trips and resource speakers help promote understanding and cooperation between school and community. A resource person should be invited to participate in the class or school program when there exists an actual need for special contributions from community representatives.
The Board expects the professional staff to be concerned with locating and contacting people in various areas of interest and expertise who might serve as resource persons in particular units of study. Requests to use such resource persons should be cleared with the principal of the school.
