EEAFB-R – Use of School Buses by Community Groups

  1. The availability of buses for community use will be determined semi-annually by the Superintendent or his designee.
  2. A minimum of five persons of any group seeking to avail themselves of the use of school buses must be residents of the Cherry Creek School District. Other criteria for eligibility for bus use require that the person representing the group making application can show that other sources of transportation are not reasonably available to the group.
  3. The application for bus use must be made in writing to the Superintendent or his designee on the "Request for Use of School Bus" form.
  4. The users of a school bus must pay the costs of the services of a regular Cherry Creek School District bus driver, insurance coverage, other operational charges on a per mile basis and, if required, the cost of a stand-by mechanic. A deposit equal to the estimated charges for use of the bus must be made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled use. Such payments are to be made to the transportation supervisor. Checks should be made out to Cherry Creek School District No. 5.
  5. The person, persons or organization making application for use of a bus must agree to indemnify the District for any damage to school property over and above normal wear which might be expected or not covered by insurance policies of the District. Representatives of the transportation department will determine the amount of damage to the District's property.
  6. The Board of Education reserves the right to refuse approval or to cancel any and all permits issued for the use of a school bus when it is deemed that such action is necessary for the best interests of the District.
