Board members shall receive no compensation for their services unless the Board by written resolution approves compensation for Board member services when Board members are performing "Official Board Duties" consistent with the limits, requirements, and definitions established by Colorado law.Board members may submit bills or receipts for necessary expenses incurred while performing "Official Board Duties" (such as mileage), and Board members may be reimbursed from District funds for those expenses. The Board shall pass a written resolution establishing the monetary parameters for expense reimbursement.
In terms of mileage expenses, payment at the official District rate per mile shall be made for any member of the Board while performing "Official Board Duties."
The District shall purchase liability insurance and errors and omissions insurance to protect its Board members individually and collectively for claims made against them as a result of their membership on the Board. The Board shall rely on the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act, found at C.R.S. § 24-10-101, as the basis for its obligation to defend and indemnify Board members and shall follow all requirements and parameters established therein for indemnification obligations.
In keeping with the need for continuing in-service training and development for its members, the Board encourages the participation of all members at appropriate school board conferences, workshops and conventions. Funds for participation at such meetings shall be budgeted for on an annual basis.
