The Cherry Creek School District ("District") Board of Education considers a legacy to be "a gift handed down from the past." The Cherry Creek Legacy Stadium Wall of Fame recognizes those individuals and groups who go beyond the day-to-day demands of their position to create an exceptional educational environment in the Cherry Creek School District. Honorees who are recognized will have demonstrated a tangible positive impact on the Cherry Creek School District as a whole and as distinguished from impact on other school districts. Toward this end, the Board of Education authorizes the establishment of an advisory committee to assist with identifying honorees whose names will permanently displayed on the Legacy Stadium Wall of Fame.
Article I: Name
The name of this advisory committee to the Board of Education is the Legacy Stadium Educational Leadership Wall of Fame Award Committee ("WFAC").
Article II: Purpose
The purpose of the Legacy Stadium Educational Leadership Wall of Fame Award Committee ("WFAC") is to recognize exemplary individuals and groups who have left a lasting legacy in their dedication and commitment to excellence in the Cherry Creek School District, and to review and evaluate all applications submitted for this award and make honoree recommendations to the Board of Education.
Article III: Membership
Section I: Composition of the Committee
The number of members of the WFAC shall be five (5). The members shall consist of the then-current President of the Board of Education ("Board President"), a member of the District's leadership team as designated by the Superintendent (which may be the Superintendent) ("Superintendent's Designee"), a past member of the Board of Education, and two at-large positions not restrained by category.
Section II: Term of Membership
Except for the Board President and the Superintendent's Designee, the other three committee members ("Board Appointees") shall serve for a term of three years or until their successor is duly selected by the Board of Education. The Board Appointees shall serve for a maximum of two full three-year terms, in addition to any shorter period when initially appointed to the committee as Board President or the Superintendent's Designee. Two initial Board Appointees shall serve for shorter terms in order to create staggered terms for committee members. The terms of the Board Appointees shall be staggered so that one Board Appointee's terms expires each year on July 31.
Section III: Initial Members
The initial members of the WFAC shall be Aagje Barber, Board President; Mary Chesley, Superintendent; Wendy DeBell, Board Appointee with an initial partial term ending July 31, 2010; Monte Moses, Board Appointee with an initial partial term ending July 31, 2011; and Paul Hanley, Board Appointee with an initial full term ending July 31, 2012.
Section IV: Removal of Board Appointees
The Board Appointees may be appointed and removed for any reason at any time by the Board of Education.
Section V: Vacancy
In the event of a vacancy of a Board Appointee position, the remaining committee members shall nominate a person to fill such position to the Board of Education who shall approve or disapprove of such selection. A committee member appointed to fill a vacancy shall be appointed for the unexpired term of the member causing the vacancy. Despite the expiration of a committee member's term, a committee member shall continue to serve until his or her successor shall have been appointed.
Article IV: Amendment of Bylaws
The WFAC may amend and/or adopt these and any other bylaws or procedures deemed appropriate or necessary.
Article V: Meetings
Section I: Purpose of Meetings
The purpose of the WFAC during the committee meetings is to determine whether to forward one or more nominations for the Educational Leadership Award to the Cherry Creek School District Board of Education.
Section II: Meeting(s) Schedule
A regular meeting of the WFAC shall be convened by the Board President during the month of October or such other month as determined by the committee.
